First meeting
When: Saturday 14 November at 10.30am
Where: Devonport. We’ll email the exact venue once you sign up.
How long: About one hour.
Cost: Free. If we’re in a café, you just buy your own drink.
What happens
1. Say hello. Fill in a short card: three things you’re good at, three things you’re interested in, and three problems you would love to solve.
2. Talk it through. Sit at a small table and chat about the problems people raised. Each topic gets five minutes.
3. Find who’s already helping. Often someone is already working on it.
4. Choose a small first step. Something you can try in about two weeks.
5. Keep in touch. You’ll hear how to stay connected.
You leave with one small first step.
Do I need experience? No. Bring an idea, or just bring your curiosity.
Anyone can start a No Where Else Society group in their own area. Here’s how.
Steps
1. Find a few neighbours or friends who want to help.
2. Meet somewhere easy, like a café or a park.
3. Use our meeting guide to share ideas and choose a small first step.
4. Try it for two weeks, then meet again to see what happened.
5. Keep groups small. When a group reaches 8 to 10 people, split into two.
6. Share what you learned so others can copy it.
Ground rules Be kind. No selling. No party politics. Ask before sharing anyone’s photo or details.
Change a street, and you can change a suburb. Change a suburb, and you can change a city.
No Where Else Society (NWESoc) is a community trial in Devonport, Tasmania. You are here.
